Diani is a holiday destination but NOT a destination where noise pollution is order of the door.

If you run a resort, a pub or a villa and you playing LOUD music past 11PM and it is NOT festive period then that is NOT RESPONSIBLE TOURISM.

What makes a pub owner think that playing loud music is a way to attract revellers ? You walk into some of these places and you find DJ playing to himself like there is no tomorrow going deaf .

If you must play loud music then sound proof your place .

Diani did NOT discover partying, we have world leading destination like Pattaya, Las Vegas, Goa, Sharm El Sheikh, Antalya et al and loud music is NOT part of their strategy.

Let me tell you this , RESPONSIBLE TOURISM is about courtesy and knowing that you have neigbours and other businesses. You also have residents NOT only humans but also silent neigbours who call Diani home the many creatures from Bush babies , endangered Colobus monkeys , Dik Diks, rich birdlife all deserve a silent night it is what nights are meant to be SILENT.

A one off event is understandable but this day in , day out noise is totally unacceptable. It’s about time you are called out.

We had the likes of Shakatak, Disco Banda, Disco Ngoma, Disco Chocolate et al in the 90s who were ahead of their time with sound proofed discos.

One last thing those screaming DJ’s are total nuisance. Some clubs play loud music till 8am in the morning, what madness is this?

This is NOT the vision we have for Diani . Diani is NOT a matatu with loud music . Diani is award winning destination, yes you can party but party in a responsible way.

As an association we are working closely with our county to make sure there is sanity in Diani. Kwale County Government , Nema Kenya and SOUTH COAST RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
